W. A. Mozart - Piano Concerto No. 23 in A, K. 488         F.X. Mozart - Piano Concerto in C, Opus 14
Janet Colburn, Piano, with Sir Neville Marriner
and the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.
The Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields was formed in 1959 by a group of outstanding London musicians to perform 17th and 18th century music. It is now one of the most famous ensembles in the world and has made over 450 recordings, including the complete Mozart Piano Concertos under Sir Neville Marriner, with Alfred Brendel as soloist. Dr. Janet Colburn’s research and editing in collaboration with Sir Neville Marriner led to this exciting premier recording of the First Piano Concerto by the son of W. A. Mozart, Franz Xavier Mozart. Sir Neville Marriner was arguably the best known interpreter of 17th and 18th Century music and is noted for his long association with the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.
